Shamanic Journey
Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is a shamanic journey?

A: A shamanic journey is a practitioner-led spiritual practice used to gain clarity, insight and self-understanding when answers are not easily accessible through the thinking mind. It works on a symbolic and intuitive level and supports inner orientation and awareness.

Q2: How does a shamanic journey session work?

A: The journey is carried out by the practitioner on your behalf. You remain fully present and relaxed throughout the session. Before the journey, we clarify a question or life theme together. Afterward, the insights, symbols or messages that emerged are shared and gently reflected on.

Q3: What can a shamanic journey help with?

A: Shamanic journeys are often used for questions related to personal direction, recurring patterns, inner blocks, or deeper self-discovery. They do not predict the future or make decisions for you, but support clarity and perspective.

Q4: What should I expect after the session?

A: Many clients feel calm, grounded or reflective after a session. Insights may appear immediately or unfold gradually over the following days. Integration continues naturally over time.

Q5: Is a shamanic journey a replacement for therapy or medical treatment?

A: No. A shamanic journey is a complementary spiritual practice and does not replace medical, psychological or therapeutic care.

Q6: Are there scientific studies related to shamanic practices?

A: Yes. Researchers in anthropology, psychology and neuroscience have published studies examining shamanic trance, symbolic imagery effects, and altered states of consciousness associated with shamanic rituals. For example:

• A 2024 neuroanthropological study explored shamanic trance as a non-ordinary consciousness state, observing characteristic brain oscillations and cultural context.

• A 2025 empirical study investigated how shamanic symbolic imagery affects emotions and consciousness, showing changes in affect and states of consciousness in a controlled group.

• A scoping review of scientific literature on shamanic trance summarizes the evidence on phenomenology, psychology, neurophysiology and potential therapeutic relevance and highlights the need for further research.
